- Description
- Solicitation SP4410-05-R-8001 will be issued for the recovery of precious metals from GFP/GFM. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be a five year contract with an eighteen month base period, three twelve month option periods and a six month option period. The contractor will be required to recover precious metals (gold, silver, platinum family metals) from government furnished property/government furnished material (GFP/GFM). The contractor will be required to either pickup the GFP/GFM from Government sites throughout the United States or GFP/GFM will be shipped to the contractor?s facility for the contractor to then process into a homogeneous state. Assays of samples by contractor will be used to determine the amount and type of precious metals contained in the lots. Settlement will then be for an equivalent amount of refined precious metals due the government. The processing of only part of the material for the purpose of representing the whole is not allowed. The Government will specify in the contract the methods to be used by the contractor to process the material. Any alternative methods must be approved by the Government. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be released in early to mid June 2005.
