- Description
- The following are question and answers that were submitted by the deadline of Fri, 29 Apr 05: Q1: Are the hallway lights in the dorms always left on? A1: Yes, dorm hallway lights are left on 24hrs a day. The dayroom area lights are sometimes off. Q2: Is there a conduit pathway between dorm and monitoring area? A2: All indications are that there is not an existing conduit available but there is sufficient space to provide one per the wall sections. Q3: Is there a requirement for cable to the monitoring area be in conduits or may they be fish through the ceiling? A3: There doesn?t seem to be a requirement to place A/V or CAT 3/5 in conduit, it may be fished through the ceiling and bundled with zip-ties. Q4: Are the parking lot cameras to focus on the actual parking area or are they more for a view of the entrance into the building? A4: The parking lot cameras are to monitor what vehicles enter the parking lot, focus should not be placed on the entrance to the facility. The cameras should only be for vehicle identification, not facial recognition for the parking lot cameras. Q5: Is the HVAC system sufficient for placement of additional monitoring equipment/DVRs/UPS system in a working office (Room 114)? A5: Yes. Rooms 114 and 115 have a dedicated system that will provide sufficient cooling for the new equipment. Q6: Do cameras and wiring need to be tamper proof? A6: No. Q7: Is exposed wiring acceptable? What type of conduit is required to meet base code? A7: See Q3. No loosely strung cable will be authorized and should remain out of plain sight to the highest extent possible, where it is inevitable neutral colored plastic or metal raceway will suffice. Please indicate where these occurrences might happen. Q8: What are the fire and safety code requirements? Does the contractor need to follow special electrical codes? A8: Typical construction contract regulations, laws, and USAF Instructions shall be adhered to as amended. Electronic equipment shall be Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listed. NEC, NFPA, etc. should be followed. Q9: What are minimum requirements of the UPS system? A9: One UPS for each DVR, sufficient power to provide for electrical interruptions and spikes without damaging equipment. Q10: Will wireless cameras systems be accepted? A10: Wireless cameras will not be accepted. Q11: What is your minimum amount of acceptable DVR storage capacity? 30 days? A11: 30 days minimum. Q12: What will the period of performance be? If the contract is not awarded until mid-May, will the contractor be responsible to meet the June 5 deadline? Timeframe seems unrealistic for design, delivery, installation, configuration, testing, and training of a quality system. A12: The revised date will be 20 June 2005. Q13: What type of warranty are you looking for and what is the minimum acceptable down time? A13: Standard warranty for like items. What is typically acceptable for this industry? I believe one year on parts and equipment upon delivery and one year labor after completion should suffice. Q14: What are your cable run requirements? Do cables need to be enclosed in conduit? A14: See Q3 and Q7 Anyone that is interested in getting a copy of the layouts, please send an email to: celeste.cappomagi@vandenberg.af.mil All other terms and conditions of this combined solicitation remains the same.
