Description
The Memphis Purchasing Service Center of the United States Postal Service (USPS) is seeking supplier input regarding possible future third party logistics (3pl) operations. In order to gain better insight into what capabilities exist in this marketplace the USPS will be conducting a series of supplier workshops. These workshops will consist of a presentation by the supplier of their companies capabilities followed by a question and answer session. It is anticipated each supplier workshop will last between two and three hours. Listed below is a general overview of the project and the criteria we will use to choose workshop participants: The US Postal Service is looking to establish a working relationship with a third party logistics provider to increase flexibility in supporting warehousing and distribution activities. This effort will include establishing data flows for initial receipt, receiving and shipment of orders, reporting completion of tasks associated with material stocked, and identify performance measurements relative to each product set. Support will be needed in providing the ability to expand and contract a network for fulfilling warehousing and distribution requirements at the National level. We are also looking to expand our local distribution in approximately 20 major metropolitan areas across the country. This will involve providing a 2 hour response window from the time of receipt of the order until the site physically receives the material. This includes the ability to incorporate systems integration capability and capacity to interface with internal organizations and external suppliers. The following are the criteria we want to discuss within the Workshop: [A] Current and Past Performance; [B] Existing Distribution Network Capabilities; [C] Systems Capabilities and Integration; [D] Startup and Integration Capabilities; and [E] Systems Integration; [F] Innovative Solutions and New Industry Trends. Suppliers should limit their submissions to not more than 10 pages. Only six timeslots are available. Suppliers will be selected based upon the uniqueness of their above submissions. These sessions are to gain knowledge of the marketplace only and failure to be selected to participate will not influence any future source selection decisions. Workshops will be conducted at: USPS Material Distribution Center 500 SW Gary Ormsby Drive Topeka, KS 66624-9998 Workshops are tentatively scheduled to take place June 8-10, 2005. Interested suppliers should submit the information stated above electronically to Mark Treese at mark.l.treese@usps.gov not later than 4:00PM May 23, 2005.
