- This project has 4 specific aims: 1. To measure the amounts of specific latex accelerators in gloves that elicit allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) under normal occupational work practices and 2. specific latex accelerators from gloves used by sensitized workers that do not elicit ACD in these individuals: 3. compare glove accelerator content to the patch test response 4. and to pervent further ACD in sensitized subjects participating in this study. The contractor will enroll glove ACD patients, procure offending gloves and gloves that can be worn safely by these patients, and perform a complete ACD clinical evaluation of each patient including work history. Gloves, and relevant clinical and work history data (identified by subject study number only) will be supplied to NIOSH. The contractor will, through their study coordinator, enroll patents into the study who report with glove associated ACD; procure the goves associated wit the ACD and gloves that can be worn safely by these patients and send them to NIOSH; perform a complete ACD clinical work-up of the patients according to NACDG standards; identify and recruit glove ACD patients from medical records in the event not enough patients are enrolled prospectively and maintain all clinical records and patients indentifiers.
