Description

Change description to read: The Department of Veterans Affairs, Austin Automation Center, (VAAAC) Austin, Texas, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Data Security, Inc. of Lincoln, Nebraska for a Model HD-1T chamber type degausser. The degausser must be capable of degaussing Tape Media with a coercivity of 2500 Oersteds and hard disk media with a coercivity of 5000 Oersteds. In addition, the degausser must meet the Department of Defense Guidelines for purging classified or sensitive information from the media and must be listed in the National Security Agency (NSA) approved Degausser Products List (DPL). The only two degaussers on the DPL that meet this criteria is the HD-6000 and HD-1T degaussers, both are manufacturered by Data Security. The statutory authority for this sole source procurement is 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1). The award will be made as a commercial acquisition under FAR Part 12. This is not a request for proposals. All responses from responsible sources will be considered. Responses must include sufficient documentation to allow this office to evaluate the possibility of your firm to submit a valid proposal. In addition responses shall include the contractors printed price listing and/or GSA contract and price list. Interested parties will be considered only if responding with clear and convincing evidence that their equipment meets the DOD guidelines for purging classified or sensitive information and is listed in the NSA DPL as stated above. The determination to open competition based on responses received is solely within the discretion of the Government. If a solicitation is issued, no additional synopsis will be published. All responses must be submitted in writing within 6 calendar days of publication of this notice. No telephone inquires will be accepted. Written responses can also be faxed to 512/326-6028 to the attention of the contracting officer.
