Description
This modification is to add the following: The Submerged Universal Submarine Fenders Types II and III Float to be furnished IAW 806-5773691, Rev B., or manufacturer can replace the steel float design with composite or a non-corrosive type application that can support the cylindrical fenders and in accordance with General Notes (Replacement Floats). GENERAL NOTES (REPLACEMENT FLOATS): Manufacturer can furnish similar type float called out under drawing 806-5773691 for TYPE II & TYPE III under the following guidelines: 1. Float must be able to support the overall weight of the unit it will be supporting and must be constructed of a non-corrosive material and have a shelve life to ten years or more. 2. Float is to weight tested to certify it can support the Triangular or Cylindrical fenders. 3. The outer skin of the redesigned support float must be reinforced with nylon, which is wrapped in a helical pattern and integrated within the skin itself. All outer surface must contain ultraviolet (UV) inhibitors. 4. The replacement float could be marine fender type application fabricated from closed-celled resilient foam that absorbs significant quantities of energy when compressed. The foam should be protected by a filament reinforced elastomer skin. 5. The replacement float should have a durable outer skin that won't tear on protrusions and be totally buoyant and burst resistant (won't sink if punctured). 6. Low maintenance 7. The overall cost of the re-designed floats mut be competitive and not excedd to overall cost of the floats. 8. Manufacturers design must be submitted to NAVSEA Philadelphia in a digital drawing format that outline all materials, dimensions, connections, fasteners, tolerances, assembly and instruction details for review and acceptance.
