- The VA Medical Center, 1970 Roanoke Blvd., Salem, Virginia has a requirement for on-site Nephrologist services for eligible veteran beneficiaries two (2) weekends per month from Friday 4:30 p.m. through Monday 7:45 a.m., plus an occasional weekday (7:45 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. and an occasional weeknight (4:30 p.m. through 7:45 a.m.). The weekend coverage requires the physician to be on-call for the entire weekend, with an estimated four (4) hours per weekend actually spent at the VA. Continuous coverage to be provided with no lapse in times of vacations or sick days of contract group. Nephrologist services include: Nephrology consultation; renal biopsy as required; medical referral for dialysis patients in outpatient/emergency room visits and Nephrology consultation for two (2) weekends per month as scheduled by the Chief, Nephrology Section; perform new acute dialysis procedures; evaluate and consult from the hospital and ECRC; medical referral for dialysis on Saturday schedule two (2) Saturdays per month. Nephrologist must be a Physician, Board Certified/Board Eligible in Nephrology, must have current, unencumbered license in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the U.S. or the District of Columbia; Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification; must be U.S. citizen. Nephrologist must possess adequate computer skills, which is defined as a working knowledge of Windows environment and the ability to use a mouse to point and click for selection of items desired and keyboard skills to produce approximately thirty (3) words per minute. It is the VA?s intent to solicit offers and award one contract on a competitive basis. THIS PROCUREMENT IS A 100% SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE. The applicable NAICS Code is 621111 with a size standard of $8.5 Million. Contract period will be one year from date of award with four (4) available option years. Solicitation packages will be available on or about May 11, 2005. Solicitation closes at noon EST, June 17, 2005. This requirement is subject to the availability of FY05 funds.
