- Description
- The Corps of Engineers has a need for a contract for Fabrication and Delivery of emergency bulkhead units for the Emsworth Lock and Dam project located in western Pennsylvania. Two bulkhead units are needed for each of the main channel and back chan nel dams. In total, four (4) bulkheads are required and all bulkheads are identical. The bulkheads shall be constructed using aluminum 6061-T6 structural shapes and plate fastened together with bolted connections. Each bulkhead has a span of 102-3 , a h eight of 6-6 , and an 11-0 truss depth. The weight of one bulkhead is approximately 17.5 tons. Components of the aluminum bulkheads include truss framing, skin plate, diaphragms, cover plates, roller and bumper assemblies, pick up and support details, water seals and related items. An optional field splice has been designed to allow sections of the bulkhead to be shipped by ground transportation. The replacement bulkheads will be compatible with existing hoist equipment, pier geometry and existing em bedded metals. Detailed shop drawings will be provided to the supply contractor. Delivery of the gates will be to Emsworth L/D, Ohio River, 0 Western Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The period of performance will be 300 calendar days. This procuremen t is unrestricted. Contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor's Registration (CCR) Database before receiving a contract award. For registration information, contact the CCR center at 1-888-227-2423. The plans and specifications will be pla ced on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. Plans and specifications will not be provided in a printed paper hard copy format. The CD's will be available approximately 06/02/05 at no charge.
