Description
The U.S. Coast Guard Engineering Logistics Center has a requirement for USCG Polar Class Aft Stern Tube Bearing Study. These technical services are needed to determine a recommended fix and/or redesign of the Polar aft stern tube bearing arrangement. Contractor to evaluate the potential of chock fasting the bearing shell permanently in the Polar's stern tube to combat the loss of fit between bearing shell and stern tube lands. This potential solution shall be thoroughly investigated in accordance with USCG's statement of work. Item 1: Progress report to be delivered to USCG within 14 days after award. Item 2: Draft report of proposed solutions and feasibility study to be delivered to USCG 21 days after award, final report to be furnished to USCG 10 days after receipt of comments. Item 3: Specification and drawings for design and installation due 30 days after award. Item 4: Cost estimate, due 30 days after award. Item 5: Report of findings from ship check/bearing inspection due seven days after award. Item 6: One-day presentation at CG Engineering Logistics Center in Baltimore, MD, due 45 days after contract award. The North American Industry Classification Standard (NAICS) is 541330 and the dollar amount is $4.0 million. It is the Government's belief than only LamaLo Technology Inc. can provide the USCG Polar Class Aft Stern Tube Bearing Study. However, other potential sources having the expertise and required capabilities can submit such data discussing the same in duplicate within 5 days from the date of this announcement. The following information must be provided to evaluate the acceptability of their unique qualifications and expertise: 1) Complete and current engineering data to demonstrate expertise in studies that pertain to Polar Class Icebreakers, specifically stern tube bearings. 2) Experience in design, installation, repair and trouble-shooting of marine propulsion systems, stating the vessels that work was performed on. The closing date for receipt of responses shall be no later than 26 May 2005, 1 pm EST. This acquisition is not set-a-side for small business. See numbered note 22.
