Description

This is a pre-award notice. The National Park Service intends to award two concession contracts, one to Johnny?s East River Lodge and the second to the Northern Lights Haven, both within Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve in the Dry Bay area for the period June 1, 2005 through December 31, 2014. The services listed in both contracts are overnight accommodations and food service for the public within Glacier Bay National Preserve, and retail sales (gift items and sundry sales) on the land assignment; recreational equipment rental on the land assignment; ground transportation in the Preserve; guided hikes in the Preserve and along the outer coast north of Lituya Bay; guided motorized and non-motorized boat trips on freshwater streams in the Preserve; guided sport fishing in the Preserve and along the outer coast north of Lituya Bay; and guided non-motorized boat trips on Alsek Lake. These two contracts will be awarded pursuant to section 1307 of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, 16 USC 3197 and 36 CFR 13.80-13.82. Generally, historical operators have a right to continue to provide the same kind and scope of service that they were legally engaged in providing prior to January 1, 1979 pursuant to 36 CFR 13.82(a). NPS has determined that these two companies are historical operators and consequently are eligible to be awarded a concession contract non-competitively.
