- 05T0136-ScanArm System Solicitation Due Date cob, 27 May 05 The government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source (FARO) under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(i). The item being procured is: 1 each ScanArm system. This item is being purchased for non-contact measurement applications, including inspection, cloud-to-CAD comparison, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering and 3D modeling. Data can be analyzed not only in the Arm's native CAM2 Measure, but also their choice of point-cloud evaluation software, including Geomagic, PolyWorks and Rapidform. The ScanArm's hard probe and 3D laser scanner can digitize interchangeably without having to remove either component. Data points can be collected using the Arm's hard probe, then digitize the sections requiring larger volumes of data (more than 13,000 points per second). AFIT has a FARO Gold Arm that will be traded in for the new updated Platinum 6 ft SCANARM. The FARO P/N DS-P06- SCANARM. The software package is Polyworks/Modeler and Inspector that includes IMAlign, IMMerge, IMEdit, IMCompress,IMInspect, IGES Module and includes a one year support/maintenance contract. In addition, we are buying PloyWorks/Modeler+ NURBS OR PolyWorks/Inspector that inlcudes a two day training class for up to 3 people at InnovMetric. The solicitation number is FA8601-05-T-0136, North American Industrial Classification (NAICS) code 334519, the size standard is 500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, any quotation received within seven (7) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to the notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
