Description

This service project consists of pile burning in the Palmer Creek and Fuller North burn units. Over the past several years hazardous fuel reduction projects and wildlife habitat enhancement projects have been implemented at the Seward Ranger District. The implementations of these projects resulted in 369 acres containing piles of fuel, which are now ready to be disposed of by burning. These pile burns can be rated as non-complex. Non-complex burns have no or minimal control problems present, and little or no risk to resources, personnel and equipment. Piles burned to 80% consumption or more. Any fire creeping from perimeters will be immediately contained. Level of difficulty for hand pile burns can be determined by piles per acre, size of piles and access. Each unit is accessible by road. Palmer Creek is 204 acres with 15 piles per acre. Smallest pile is 10 x 5 with the largest pile being 22 x 12. Fuller is 165 acres with 8 piles per acre. Smallest pile is 3 x 3 with the largest pile being 28 x 22. Location of Palmer Creek Units ? T09N; R02W; S ? Sec 3. and N ? Sec 10. Fuller North ? T04N; R04W; Sec 28. All responsible sources may submit a bid that will be considered. Award of this project to be accomplished under Full and Open Competition, pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program.
