- Description
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with DataDirect Networks for an upgrade to an existing Storage Area Network (SAN) and additional 73GB, 15K RPM fibre channel disks under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The requirement consists of 1 S2A8500 Couplet 2x4 ports, 5.0GB cache; 1 SA2016 10-Pack (160 slots), 16-slot dual-loop OR dual port fibre-channel 2Gb to SATA JBOD; 122 400 GB 7,200 RPM drive module; 8 optical SFP interface module, 2GB; 2 42U (73.5) high rack; 38 drive module cover for SA2016 enclosure; 50 50-meter multimode, 62.5-micron optical cable, LC to LC connector; 35 PC2000, 2Gb multi-mode optical LC connector (SFP-based) + DMP driver; 108 73GB 15K RPM fibre-channel drive modules to fill existing slots; and, 3 year 24x7 pager support, cross shipment repair replacements. A Justification for Other than Full and Open Competition has been prepared in support of this acquisition. The additional storage capability and fibre-channel disks must be completely compatible with the current functioning systems. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 05/27/2005. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
