Description

There has been extensive research on factors contributing to economic growth among states in the U.S. The contributions of entrepreneurship to this economic development have received increasing attention by development officials in the states. However, no research has been conducted to define and quantify the relationship between the dynamics of entrepreneurship and economic growth. The Office of Advocacy, in cooperation with Bureau of Census, has developed several important measures of small business activity (e.g., the number of businesses and establishments, their employment, the number of births and deaths of businesses and establishments, and their employment changes). The Office of Advocacy seeks research proposals to utilize this data to conduct a detailed investigation of the interactions between small business activity variables and those economic and policy variables used in state and regional economic growth models to establish a better understanding of the role entrepreneurship plays in regional economic development in the U.S. Questions and answers for this procurement shall commence on May 30, 2005 and end on June 7, 2005.
