Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City, Florida intends to issue a sole source three-year requirements contract to SSK Industries, Inc., 1008 Monroe Road, Lebanon, Ohio 45036 for the procurement of varying types Cybernetic Parachute Release System (Cypress) Automatic Activation Devices (AAD) to support U.S. Marine Corps Parachutists. Using pre-programmed parameters, the CYPRESS AAD uses an electronic impulse that activates the release unit. This unit fires a cutter, which cleanly cuts the reserve closing loop, causing an immediate deployment of the reserve parachute, thus providing maximum safety to the parachutist. The items being procured and the approximate quantities (as will be specified in each individual delivery order) are as follows: 167 each CYPRES (AAD) (P/N AAD2C1M1535A), eight (8) each CYPRES (AAD) (P/N AAD2C1M1035A), eight (8) each CYPRES (AAD) (P/N AAD2C1M2529A), and 795 each CYPRES AAD Pin Cutters (P/N AADCC1FRG). The CYPRESS AAD are only a! vailable from SSK Industries by direction of the Marine Corp Systems Command (MARCORPSYSCOM) Raids and Reconnaissance Program Office. The CYPRES AAD forms a part of a highly specialized airborne delivery system, which has undergone extensive testing and qualification under the MARCORPSYSCOM Diving/Parachuting Authority. Each part has been tested to perform to rigid requirements for power consumption, power output, range, depth, altitude, etc. Only those articles, which have been successfully tested, are qualified. Procedures are detailed under Marine Corp Order (MCO) 3500.20A. The objective of this process is to verify that the system provides acceptable levels of safety and mission critical support throughout the system specific operating range thus providing maximum reasonable assurance that the mission can be completed.
