- Description
- The Department of Justice is issuing the following synopsis in order to provide updates to industry regarding its requirement for Translation, Interpretation, and Linguistic Support Services, Solicitation No. DJJL-05-RFP-0309 which was released on April 25, 2005. Due to the volume of questions received from industry on May 5, 2005, the Department will not be able to provide answers before the current proposal due date of May 25, 2005. The Department anticipates releasing answers to those questions the week of June 6, 2005 via amendment to the above referenced solicitation. The amendment will specify a revised proposal due date. The Department of Justice is interested in securing translations of specific documents and video/audio media that contain legal, business, public administrative, historical, geographical and military terminology and concepts, including those dealing with technology as used in the sciences (chemical, physical, cyber, etc.). The specialized terminology used to express concepts in any of the given subject areas usually varies considerably from everyday usage in any of the target or source languages in question. The Department of Justice intends to award an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity type contract to three to five contractors as a result of this Request for Proposal. It is the intention of the Department to award one or more of those contracts to a qualified small business. If more than three contracts are awarded, it is the intention of the Department to award at least two of those contracts to qualified small businesses. Task Orders will be issued on a fixed rate labor hour or time and materials basis as appropriate. The contract term shall cover a base period beginning the date of contract award through September 30, 2005 with five (5) option periods. Option Period 5 will be extended to allow for a five year contract term, the period of which will be determined based on date of contract award.
