Description

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) intends to award a contract for the rental of grounds and facilities to the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center, Louisville, KY for the 2005 National Mine Rescue Contest. The site must be located in or near the eastern United States coal fields. The above facility is centrally located in the coal mining region of Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee, Virginia and approximately one day?s drive from Alabama, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The contest facility must have sufficient space for eleven simulated mines (each area must be 300 feet wide by 100 feet long in order to accommodate field layout). The facility must be able to provide indoor space in the event of inclement weather and have a floor able to withstand harsh treatment. The entire area must be constructed by 4:00 p.m. on September 20, 2005 and dismantled after 2:00 p.m. on September 23, 2005. Registration will begin on September 19, 2005, with adequate space for isolation of fifty rescue teams.
