Description
The U.S. Army Engineer District, Alaska (POA) intends to include sole source specifications for the aircraft hangar doors in the FY05 Aircraft Maintenance Hangar (AMH) (Army Project Number 41753) at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, under the Multiple Award T ask Order Contract (MATOC). The only system known to meet the required specifications is the Megadoor Vertical-lift Fabric Project Doors (System 1500). Sole source determination is based upon the need for aircraft hangar doors that open vertically, are insulated and resist infiltration, and are made up of multiple sections, operated either individually or in groups. The overall hangar opening, with all doors open, will be approximately 225 feet wide by 36 feet tall. The opening will have up to three (3) separate door sections with swing-up intermediate mullions. Vertical opening doors do not require lateral door pockets and eliminates the rails and/or floor tracks required with sliding doors. Double-fabric doors with horizontal stiffeners provide structural resistence to wind loading, resistence to infiltration, and provide thermal performance to approximately R-3. A series of multiple doors with swing-up mullions will provide the user with the most flexibility in housing a variety of aircraft sizes and configurations while limiting exposure of the hangar bay to the elements. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the descretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by 15 June 2005 will be considered by the Government. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO WWW.FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (01-JUN-2005); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE. PLEASE CONTACT fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
