Description
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, (DHHS), through the Program Support Center, intends to negotiate a sole-source award with The Ambulatory Pediatric Association, McLean, Va. Purpose: The APA Young Investigator Research Annual Program and AHRQ encourage faculty to conduct research with emphasis on child health promotion, teaching, patient care and health care delivery projects in general pediatrics. AHRQ encourages projects focused on translating research into practice. This program will provide training opportunities to conduct research focusing on one of AHRQ's priority populations (children) as outlined in AHRQ's strategic plan. This is the only organization that has established such a program and AHRQ feels this is the only organization that can enhance research knowledge and growth for potential pediatric researchers. The APA mission is accomplished through patient care, academics (teaching and research), and advocacy-Patient safety is a major initiative of AHRQ and HHS. This APA program is vital to AHRQ because it will allow young investigators to continue to conduct important studies relevant to child health services research. It also is important because significant research findings emerging from studies (e.g., emergency pediatrics, quality of health and healthcare for children, critical care, adolescent medicine, behavior and development, and neonatology) that translate research into practice are being published and disseminated through national health journals. APA has the expertise and familiarity of child health services research and the understanding of the range of children's health care issues. THE PROPOSED SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION ACTION IS FOR SUPPLIES OR SERVICES FOR WHICH THE GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO SOLICIT AND NEGOTIATE WITH ONLY ONE SOURCE UNDER AUTHORITY OF FAR 13.106-1 INTERESTED PERSONS MAY IDENTIFY THEIR INTEREST AND CAPABILITY TO RESPOND TO THE REQUIREMENT OR SUBMIT PROPOSALS WITHIN 7 DAYS AFTER THE DATE OF PUBLICATION OF THIS NOTICE.
