- Description
- The Coast Guard is seeking qualified sources to manufacture sets of hardened and ground, ring and plug gauges. These gauges are used to check propeller and propulsion shaft blue fits during repair and manufacture of these items. The ring gauge is 21 inches in length, the large end bore diameter is 4.0050? + 0.0005 and the small end bore diameter is 3.3398? + 0.0005?. The taper is 29.825:1. The suggested material is 7? O.D. X 2? wall, 4140 or 4142 heat-treated alloy steel. The inside diameter and ends should be finished to 32 RMS. The plug gauge is 23 inches in length overall, the large end diameter is 4.0050? + 0.0005? and the small end diameter is 3.3398? + 0.0005?. The suggested material for the plug is 4.000? diameter Monel K-500 alloy per AMS 4676. All outer diameters should be finished to 32 RMS. Interested sources are encouraged to propose alternate materials they feel would be consistent with this application. Coast Guard drawings are available upon request. Please contact Kelly Wyatt at 410-762-6472 or email: kwyatt@elcbalt.uscg.mil, with any questions or additional information.
