Description
The Navy intends to procure on a sole source basis, 76 each AL2 ANTENNA MASTS Part Number BSM2-M-M215-JBS-000 from Bluesky Mast, Inc. 1202 W North B St. Tampa, FL 33606, to support currently deployed 500-foot sloping V long wire antennas. The antenna will be replacing models originally fielded with the Joint Base Station (JBS) (V2)D systems which were found to be insufficiently strong to support the 500-foot sloping V antenna. The AL2 antenna masts are required to provide the JBS (V2)D Naval Special Warfare (NSW) and Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) systems with continuous-uninterrupted communication capabilities by securing the antennas which transmit and receive signals. The manufactured masts will be stong enough to support the 500-foot long sloping V antennas, yet flexible enough to bend without breaking; even in the event of extreme conditions, thus preventing a catastrophic failure. The mast system must be lightweight; the tripod, mast sections, and all accessories, which comprise the 15 meter mast must weigh no more than 70 pounds and be deliverable in a durable rollaway bag making for easy transportation and storage. For JBS transportation requirements the masts must be capable of loading onto a 436L (104 X 84 inches usable area) pallet without special accommodations. Special accommodations could be defined as special mounting racks or any additional supporting structure that requires space and weight on the pallet. The chosen mast must be one person deployable and 1 person portable. This would include all accessories and special adapters. The JBS system deploys an SC-303B SATCOM and AS-3166. They must be able to be mounted onto the mast without the need to manufacture special mounting solutions in house. In situations when useable deployment area is limited, such as wooded areas or mountainous terrain, the mast must be capable of deploying, per mast, up to 4 antennas (up to 50 pounds) on a winching assembly. Due to the broad range of deployable theaters of operation, the mast must be impervious to sandy and salt/fog conditions. The requirement would call for sealed mechanisms and 100% corrosion free components. The required delivery date for these masts is 26 Sept 2005 to NAWCAD, Webster Field, St. Ingoes, MD 20684.
