Description
CDC is part of an Early Detection Research Network (EDRN). The goal of the network is to identify and validate molecular signatures of incipient neoplasias so as to allow specific intervention early in the development of disease and improve cancer survival. The CDC project is a study of preinvasive and invasive cervical lesions in the high-risk urban population of women referred to the colposcopy clinic at the University of Michigan Cancer Center because of abnormal cervical cytology. CDC in collaboration with University of Michigan Cancer Center has successfully established the infrastructure for specimen and data collection and has created a biorepository for the discovery and validation of cervical neoplasia early detection and risk assessment markers. CDC intends to issue solicitation no. 2005-N-01885 as a non-competitive contract to the University of Michigan to expand the EDRN biorepository for cervical neoplasia and to conduct short and long-term studies to validate putative biomarkers for cervical cancer detection and risk assessment in clinical settings. The epidemiologic study design for biologic sample and data collection will continue to focus on high-risk populations attending public health colposcopy clinics but will be expanded to include HIV-positive women, increase ethnic diversity, and add women with invasive cervical disease. Enrolled women will be followed two years to provide follow-up needed to assure precision in disease ascertainment and evaluate biomarker change in response to therapy. The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1. The NAICS code for this solicitation is 541710. Solicitation will be posted on or about June 30, 2005. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, sources who believe that they can meet the requirements should provide proof of their ability via email trouthmurphy@cdc.gov. Only email will be accepted from potential sources.
