- This notice is for informational purposes only. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), intends to conduct negotiations on a sole source basis with Beckman Coulter, Inc., 4300 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92835 for a Multisizer 3 Particle & Cell Counter and Sizing Analyzer, part no. 6605697; pcb ethernet interface, part no. 8321317; aperture concentrate control, part no. 177495; standard, cc mixed kit, part no. 6601329; and installation/training. This will be used for differential cell counting of cells generated by pulmonary lavage, cells grown in culture or cells isolated from tissue. Each cell suspension requires a unique fluid media to support it. This instrument is capable of counting any cells which have been diluted into the proprietary diluant, Isoton II. It is this flexibility of allowing for the counting of various cell types, regardless of the media in which they are in, to be counted, which makes this instrument needed for NIOSH?s laboratory research. This is not a request for quotations and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the equipment should identify themselves and give written qualification/capabilities to provide a product with comparable functionality. This information must be submitted to the Contracting Officer with 15 days of the publication date of this synopsis. Reference #000HCC33-2005-21861. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
