- a Sources This announcement constitutes Sought Synopsis. It is intended as a method of identifying potential sources interested in manufacturing a mod to the current Mil-Std-1760 connector/cable. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB), nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the government. The Air Force is seeking potential contractors to ?qualify to bid? as a source supplier for a mod to the current Mil-Std-1760 connectors/cables. Mil-Std-1760 connectors/cables provide the interface from the aircraft pylon to the smart weapon. The F-16 Systems Group is currently applying for approval of a foreign comparative testing program. This announcement is a Sources Sought Synopsis to identify potential sources in addition to EDO MBM Technology Ltd, United Kingdom, for a non-developmental item (NDI) for a method of adapting current screw on/off Mil-Std-1760 connectors to provide push-on/pull-off capability. The mod must also incorporate changes that will make the connector/cable field repairable. Any offeror must have current field usage data that demonstrates the mod meets or exceeds the current requirements for the Mil-Std-1760 connector, especially in the area of durability. Connector/cable mods must be currently in production and available in order to meet scheduled testing dates.
