Description
The spillway at Webster Dam includes three 33.33-foot by 39.51-foot counterweighted steel radial gates. Each gate leaf is counterweighted with a 30-foot by 3.5 foot by 6-foot steel box frame filled with concrete. Each gate hoist is also provided with a float/counterweight system for automatic operation. The concrete within the counterweight steel box frames has deteriorated due to freeze-thaw action and/or aggregate reaction causing damage to the frames. The work requirements will repair and reinforce the existing counterweight box frames to return them to the original design strength. The work requirements will also include removal of the automatic float/counterweight assemblies.
