Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, 345 Middlefield RD, Menlo Park, CA is seeking to procure the following steel armored logging cable: SPECIFICATION FOR CABLE: A 3/16 inch diameter, four conductor, steel armored logging cable with 18 inner and 18 outer armor wires. The conductors should be insulated with PFA (teflon) with the insulation capable of operating under temperatures as high as 500F on an intermittent basis. This is the single most important requirement. The cable must also be free of any splices. The capacitance of the conductors should be approximately 50 picofarads per foot and a DC conductive resistance of approximately 25 ohms/Mft. Mechanically, the cable should have a breaking strength of at least 2500 pounds.
