- NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Draft Request for Proposal (DRFP) for the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO). The resulting contract is a partial follow-on to current contract NAS5-00167. The purpose of this contract is to provide continued support to NASA/GSFC's GMAO, a key activity within the Earth-Sun Exploration Division for the development and use of models and assimilation systems. The goals of the GMAO include the advancement of satellite data in weather and climate prediction, and the use of satellite data to advance the U.S. environmental modeling capabilities. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. This procurement is being conducted as a full and open competition. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 541710 and 1,000 employees, respectively. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the DRAFT RFP is on or about June 17, 2005. Any questions or comments in response to the DRAFT RFP are due within 15 days. The anticipated release date of the final RFP is mid to late July 2005 with proposals due approximately 30 days later. The anticipated effective date of the follow-on contract is December 1, 2005. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor the Internet site for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any).
