Description
The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) located at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida has an immediate requirement for a Battery Eliminator (BE) for use with the AN/PSC-5D Multi-Band, Multi-Mission Radio (MBMMR) operating between 30 and 512 MHz. The BE is used in lieu of the battery box and batteries and mounts directly to the rear panel of the AN/PSC-5D. The BE shall convert 11-33 VDC or 95-260 VAC / 47-400 Hz input voltages into 28 VDC to support radio operation. The BE shall include automatic switching, reverse polarity protection and power conditioning capabilities. The BE shall provide the necessary charging circuitry to keep the integral, user provided, Military Standard BB 2590 rechargeable battery, fully charged for use as an UPS, during radio operation (all modes) when field generated or commercial power outages occur. The BE system as delivered shall include the power supply, an AC/DC power cord and a DC/DC power cord supporting the appropriate input voltages cited above. USSOCOM intends to contract directly with ATC Power Systems, Inc., 45 Depot Street, Merrimack, NH 03054. The ATC Battery Eliminators, P/N: SYS3294 and P/N: SYS3305, are the only known products that meet these requirements and are qualified by the Government to meet the Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) and Environmental requirements as governed by MIL-STD-461C and MIL-STD-810E, respectively. The Government's EMI criteria include, but are not limited to, CS01, CS02, CS06 and CE03 while environmental requirements include; drop, shock, bounce, vibration, temperature, immersion, altitude, salt/fog, and sand/dust. The ATC BEs were also used as a power source for the AN/PSC-5D during JITC Compliance and Certification testing including SINCGARS, Have Quick and UHF SATCOM single channel and DAMA operation.
