Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award on a sole source basis a Purchase Order to United Nations, Economic Commission of Europe (UNECE), Geneva, Switzerland. The purchase is a collaborative initiative with the Environmental Protection Agency and Centers for Disease Control Prevention. The project will develop an internationally acceptable radiation monitoring protocol. The goal is to increase the capture of radioactive material in scrap metal, reduce potential for contamination and aid in the disposition (disposal, reuse, or recyle) of the found materials. The work proposed is built on 4 years of collaborative working with the UNECE specifically on the issue of contamination of scrap metal by radiation. By virtue of this experience and its international status the UNECE is uniquely and capable of carrying out the requirements of this proposed contract. The anticipated award date is June 29, 2005. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide this requirement are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification, as well as, a capability statement to the contracting office by June 28, 2005. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed actions based on responses to this notice is solely within its discretion. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Inquiries may be sent to the attention of Pamela Bolling by e-mail at pbolling@cdc.gov or by fax 770-488-2688.
