- Description
- The Army has a requirement to investigate the consolidation of tungsten and tungsten heavy alloys by Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP). Of special interest is to quantify the densification rate of each alloy as a function of temperature and pressure, and to identify the minimum temperature at which full densification will occur. In order to minimize the number of required HIP runs and minimize the cost to the government, the capability of measuring densification in real-time during HIP is required. The maximum temperature during HIP is expected to be between 1000 Degrees Celcius and 1200 Degrees Celsius. The government shall supply all the powders. The vendor shall fabricate HIP canisters; prepare powder blends, as specified by the government; fill, degas and seal the HIP canisters; perform instrumented HIP experiments with real-time monitoring of densification; and analyze the measurement data and provide the government with measurements of relative density, densification rate and minimum temperature required for full densification of each alloy. POC for this action is William Sharpe, 973-724-7144. See Note 25
