This sources sought does not constitute a solicitation or proposal, authority to enter into negotiations to award a contract for the contemplated effort has not been received and funds are not currently available. The Department of Defense, NAVSEA Indian Head Maryland, Research and Technology Department is seeking to identify sources capable of providing information on personnel monitoring clip-on badges capable of detecting PGDN vapors at a minimum risk level (MRL) of 0.02 ppm. This application is for use during operations and processes occurring in enclosed areas (i.e., submarines) where increased chance of high exposure level, to PGDN vapors, is present, thereby creating high risk and harmful exposure to personnel. This application is required as a safety measure to inform personnel of the presence of unsafe levels of PDGN vapors. Desired application would provide notification to personnel in way of (i.e., changing color ?or- alarm, etc?). NSWC Indian Head is interested in materials and technologies that offer great levels of safety to personnel in the form of continuous monitoring (during processes / operations in enclosed areas. Applications should be portable, lightweight and cost efficient. Mainly, end applications will be capable of making it evident to personnel, the presence of PGDN vapors (i.e., color-metric placards /clip-on badges that change color at 0.02 ppm & lower, alarm sound, etc.) This synopsis is for information and planning purposes ONLY, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Companies capable of providing the defined product are encouraged to respond by providing their company name, points of contact, a technical description and detailed characteristics of the application and relevant corporate background, and business size. Descriptions should have enough information for the government to make informed decisions.
