Description
The US Army Research Development Evaluation Command (RDECOM) Acquisistion Center, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD is seeking sources for the following description: The Explosive Ordnance Disposal/Low-Intensity Conflict (EOD/LIC) Program is interested in determining the availability of microclimate cooling systems that will interface with the current generation MED-ENG EOD 8 and 9 Bomb Suits and military NBC personal protective equipment. The preferred approach will utilize vapor compression technology, however other novel approaches will be considered. The system shall also integrate with current SCBA systems in use by the military EOD user community to include various field protective masks. The cooling system may serve as a complete replacement of the currently available Med-Eng BCS-3 Cooling System to include the Tube Suit with Cooling Bottle. Alternatively, the microclimate cooling system could be a replacement for the Cooling Bottle alone and integrate with the Med-Eng BCS-3. It is envisioned that the microclimate cooling system will provide a cooling capacity of approximately 250 Watts at 100deg F ambient temperature. The system power source shall be 24-volt, powered by commercially available batteries or a rechargeable battery pack. The batteri es shall be capable of being easily replaced in a field environment and provide a minimum operating time of 1 hour. Additionally, the system shall weigh less than 12 pounds (cooling system, including garment). The cooling suit with cooling fluid shall wei gh less than 4 pounds and be available in a variety of standard sizes. The suit shall be lightweight for extended wear and machine washable. Firms which have products that meet the above characteristics/capabilities are invited to submit the following in formation within their Capability Statement: 1) Product summary, 2) Complete detailed technical characteristics and specifications (including but not limited to the parameters mentioned above), Pictures/drawings of system, 4) Unit price and delivery (based upon individual unit quantities). Responses will be reviewed to identify firms potentially capable of fulfilling the Governments requirements. Vendors are requested to submit their Capability Statement to the address below no later than 20 July 2005. It is requested that no Capability Statement be sent via e-mail. This sources sought/Request for Information (RFI) is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acqu ire any product.
