Description
The US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to negotiate a sole source contract for the National Bioforensic Analysis Center (NBFAC), Department of Homeland Security, with Brigham Young University (BYU), Provo, UT 84602. The intent is to make a sole source award pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. The procurement will be for the development of the NBFAC National Reference Repository as well as the NBFAC Research and Develop Program within the National Laboratories by maintaining a large and diverse collection of viable select agents and extracted genomes. This project will build and maintain an extensive archive of bacterial select agents for NBFAC. As part of this effort, a detailed annotation of the archive will be compiled, includin g information on the isolates source, origin and date of collection. Culture maintenance will include the preparation of long-term stocks of the agents, as well as periodic inventories and transfers to assure culture viability and integrity. In addition, NBFAC would have access to BYUs select agent archive, which was established over 7 years ago and contains more than 800 isolates. Any firm that believes it can meet this requirement is invited to submit written notification to the Contract Specialist wi thin 15 calendar days from the date of publication of this notice. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the firms ability to meet the requirement. Information can be sent to the Contract Specialist at: Michael.Vallon e@amedd.army.mil. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, responses received from responsible businesses prior to close of business on 12 July 2005 will be evaluated. If no responses are received, USAMRAA will proceed with the sole source contract.
