Description
This notice is issued by the NASA/GSFC to post a Request for Information RFI to solicit information about potential sources for Optical Benches: 59"x192"x24" Clean Room Compatible Optical Bench with .197" thick Super Invar Top and Bottom Skins. Top Skin is to have a .250-20 UNC-3B threaded hole pattern distributed uniformly across the entire surface on 1.00"centers. Faying surfaces of threaded holes are to be countersunk. Spill proof cylindrical Stainless steel non load-bearing cups are to be affixed to the underside of the top skin beneath each tapped hole. 1. The core of the optical bench should be a steel honeycomb, closed cell, .010" thick foil. 2. The core cell size should be <0.50in2. 3. The Core Density should be 13.3 lb/ft3. 4. The Flatness should be ?0.05?. The top and Bottom Skins should be Super Invar Sheets .197? thick. 5. The Maximum Fixed Damping Level should be 3.5 ?-in/lbf input. 6.The minimum Resonant Frequency should be 90 Hz. 7.The Maximum Static Deflection should be .25 ?-in/lbf input. 8.The Broad Band Dry Damped Structure is required. 9.The steel side walls should be with Channeled Flanged Edges. 10. The table should be cleaned to Class 100 Clean Room Compatibility. 11. The table should be shipped sealed in plastic in order to maintain Class 100 cleanliness. This document is for information and planning purposes only, subject to FAR Clause 52.215-3, entiltled "Request for Information for Planning Purposes." The objective of this RFI is to allow industry the opportunity to verify reasonableness and feasibility of the requirement, as well as promote competition. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offeror's responsibility to monitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Interested offerors/vendors having the required specialized capabilities to meet or exceed the requirement must submit the following: 1) Two hardcopies of your capability statement of 15 pages or less indicating the ability to perform all aspects of the requirements; 2) One electronic copy is also required via e-mail to Raymond.R.Jones @nasa.gov; 3) Interested offerors/vendors may provide any relevant catalogs or other published product leterature that may be generally available in hard copy or on-line. There is no page limit for information; 4) Provide a rough price estimate; 5) Advise if the requirement is considered to be a commercial type product. A commercial item is defined in Internet "Note A." In addition, responses must include the following: name and address of firm, average annual revenue for past 3 years and number of employees; ownership; whether they are large, small, small disadvantages, 8(a), HUBZone, and/or woman-owned; number of years in business; affiliate information: parent company, joint venture partners, potential teaming partners, list of customers covering the past five years (highlight relevant work performed, contract numbers, contract type, dollar value of each procurement; and point of contact - address and phone number). This notice constitutes all information for the Optical Benches requirement that will be furnished at this time. Interested firms are requested to submit their capability statements to the following no later than 4:30p.m., July 15, 2005 to Raymond Jones, NASA/GSFC, Mail Code 210.3, Bldg. 11 Rm. This RFI does not constitute a Request for Proposal, Invitation for Bid, or Request for Quotation, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information submitted in response. Respondents will not be notified of the results. The Government reserves the right to consider a small business or 8(a) set-aside based on responses hereto.
