- Notice of Intent to award single source award to Humboldt State University Foundation for continued work with cooperators to include the US Fish and Wildife Service, (FWS) Yreka Field Office and the US Forest Service, Klamath National Forest (KNF) conducting Fisher surveys on the Klamath and Shasta-Trinity National Forests. The Pacific fisher is listed as a Sensitive species in Region 5 of the Forest Service and is known to occur on the Klamath National Forest. Pacific fisher is also a candidate for listing under the Federal Endangered Species Act. Both offices have interest in a study of the habitat relationship of this species, particulary in the drier forest types of the Siskiyou, Shasta and Trinity Counties. Through an agreement with the Humboldt State University (HSU) Fundation, FWS is obtaining the services of a habitat data analysis expert and an experienced field crew lead. KNF will commit funds to FWS for application to the agreement with Humboldt State University Foundation. KNF funds will be used to obtain field crews.
