Description

This project will be accomplished through the use of a stewardship contract, which authorizes BLM to enter into a service contract allowing for the value of vegetative material removed to be applied as an offset against the cost of services received (Public Law 108-7). The purpose of this contract is to provide services for fuels reduction and forest health. The project objective is to remove most of the conifers (ponderosa pine and white spruce) inside and within 66 feet of areas where aspen and birch are the dominant species to improve and sustain these hardwood stands. Location of the this project: Approximately 2 miles west of the town of Lead, South Dakota. A Site Visit has been scheduled for July 14, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. Participants meet at: Twin City Mall parking Lot, 145 Glendale Dr., Lead, South Dakota Potential offerors are to provide their own transportation at no cost to the Government. The Government assumes no liability on behalf of offerors attending the site visit. Offerors intending to attend the site visit tour shall contact Dennis Bucher (605-892-7004) or e-mail dbucher@blm.gov at least 48 hours before the scheduled site visit and advise him of the firms' name and number of persons that will attend. The Request for Quotations will be available on or about July 1, 2005. See Numbered Notes 1.
