Description
Point of Contact - Matt St. Thomas, Contract Specialist, (520) 629-4620 Contracting Officer - Matt St. Thomas, (520) 629-4620 Provide A/E services for Project Number 678-315, Renovate For SDU, B57, at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS), Tucson, Arizona. Services include site investigation, schematic design, design development, preparation of bid documents, cost estimates, a submittal log and construction period services for renovation of a step down unit in Building 57. Project will renovate the existing unit of approximately 3,500 square feet, as well as incorporate an additional 2,500 square feet directly adjacent to the SDU to provide the additional bed space. Design disciplines include architectural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical/electronic and structural. Medical and medical equipment planning is also required. Work includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1) Renovation of an existing 9 bed Step Down Unit (SDU), incorporating additional space outside the current unit, to provide for a total of 16 beds 2) Evaluate replacement of components for the existing air-handling unit 3)Replace all other mechanical systems in their entirety 4) Replace patient headwall units to conform to current design standards 5) Connect the existing air handling unit to emergency power. 6) Remove, protect and reinstall the nurse call system. Increase capacity to 16 beds. The A/E shall demonstrate his/her qualifications and the qualifications of each consultant with regard to the published evaluation factors for design and option services. Evaluation factors are of equal importance. Evaluation criteria includes: (1) Professional qualifications of staff assigned to this project including consultants; (2) Specialized experience and technical competence in health care facilities design. Prior experience should include, at a minimum, completion of similar projects, including emergency power installation and code compliance issues where applicable; (3) Capability and commitment of firm to accomplish the design work within the required timeframe; (4) Past performance on recent contracts with Government agencies (emphasis on VA work) and private industry in terms of cost-effective design, estimating, quality of construction documents, compliance with design schedules, change orders and claims. (5) Explain specific internal quality control measures. Firm will be evaluated on the acceptability of their internal quality control program used to assure technical accuracy and discipline coordination of plans and specifications; (6) Geographic proximity to project site and knowledge of locality of the project; (7) Capability of and commitment to provision of accurate professional services during the construction period, including timely replies to RFIs, review of submittals & shop drawings, periodic construction inspections and ability to produce construction documents using AutoCAD release 2004 software or newer. This is a firm fixed-price contract. Estimated construction cost range is between 1 - 2 million. NAICS code is 541310. Consideration is limited to firms located within 125-mile radius of SAVAHCS, Tucson, AZ.
