- The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential sources for supplying the U.S. Army with engineering services, facilities, supplies, materials and testing to accomplish specific technical tasks for the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) and the M240 Machine Gun (MG). This shall include design, system modeling, technical analysis, fabrication of prototype components, and logistic support. This support effort applies to all fielded, warehoused and in-process M249 SAW, M240 MG, and related peripheral equipment, such as mounting platforms and other ancillary items, and related engineering studies as required by task orders for the M249 SAW and the M240 MG system. These tasks include, but not limited to: investigating and developing solutions for reported performance and interface problems, fabrication of prototype tooling and components, alternative material investigations, and elimination of known hazardous processes and materials. The contractor shall also provide engineering support to barrel/ammunition interface problems and studies involving related ancillary equipment; engineering test support to demonstrate feasibility or collect pertinent data relative to engineering studies and prototype component fabrication; and design and fabricate prototype components to resolve problems or improve the system reliability and usability of the M249 and the M240. All activities must be in compliance with federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations, Executive orders, treaties, and agreements. The contractor shall maintain records of all design, development and test activity and provide documentation. Delivery of hardware and documentation shall be in accordance with the requirements detailed in specific task orders. All responsible, interested sources are encouraged to submit their capabilities/qualifications data. The literature received from interested candidates shall describe its functional characteristics.
