Description

The Wooded Hill Forest Health Whole Tree Chipping Project on the Cleveland National Forest, Descanso Ranger District, includes the use of a track mounted whole tree chipper. Trees will be felled by Forest Service crews. The contractor will chip all felled trees and limbs not marked for wildlife and/or soil protection. All resource disturbance (i.e. ruts, tracks) created by machinery will be smoothed and restored to natural appearance. Additional environmental and heritage protection measures are included and shall be incidental to the schedule of items for payment. See Environmental and Heritage Resource Protection Measures in the Solicitation Package which will be posted in approximately 15 days. The services will be performed at the following forest location in San Diego County, California. The project is accessed from San Diego, take Interstate 8 east to the Sunrise Highway (S 1) exit. Turn left and travel highway approximately 10 miles to the project area. Project area is located on the west side of Sunrise between Meadows Kiosk area and Wooded Hill Campground entrance. Recommended Contract Time is 180 calendar days. Desired starting date October 2005. Contractors must be registered in Central Contractors Registry BEFORE a proposal is submitted. Proposals will not be considered without a CCR number. Registration can be done online @http://www.ccr.gov. Estimated price range is between $100,000 and $250,000.
