Description
Pre-Solicitation Announcement - The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, located at Kansas City, Kansas intends to issue a solicitation with a base-bid requirement to repair the deteriorated exterior concrete facade on a twenty-six story, high-rise building referred to as the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC), Chicago, Illinois. The solicitation is expected to include bid alternates to replace failed sealants between the windows, and the concrete facade; and also to apply an architectural/waterproof coating to the repaired concrete facade. This metropolitan correctional center is located in the loop area of downtown Chicago, IL, and has no parking. Working conditions (inside of the building) will be confined, with slow movement. The magnitude of construction is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS 2002) code applicable to this notice is 238190, with a size standard of $12.0 million. Due to the nature of this work, other NAICS codes have related definitions, and are listed here to alert a broad band of potential bidders. The related NAICS codes are 238140, 238390, and 238110. Bid, performance and payment-bonds will be required. Posting of the solicitation on this web site, is projected to be on or about July 22, 2005, with a projected bid due-date of August 25, 2005. These dates are subject to change. This solicitation is unrestricted, and is advertised as full and open competition. It is not set-aside for small business. Security investigations and subsequent clearances issued by the Federal Bureau of Prisons will be required for all staff who perform any contract activity on the property of MCC Chicago. The solicitation, all amendments, and related future information will be distributed solely through this website (http://www.fedbizopps.gov/). Hard copies of the solicitation will not be available. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this website to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. All responsible sources are encouraged to submit a bid that will be considered for award. Any contractor interested in obtaining a contract-award with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, must be registered on-line at www.ccr.gov. Residency requirements are applicable to this solicitation. Bidding officials and contractor employees working under this contract on Federal grounds, will be required to sign a certification that for three of the five years immediately prior to responding to this solicitation, the bidder has: resided in the United States; worked for the U.S. overseas in a Federal or military capacity; or has been a dependent of a Federal or military employee serving overseas. Faith-Based and Community-Based Organizations have the right to submit bids equally with other organizations for contracts for which they are eligible.
