Description
The U.S. Coast Guard Engineering Logistics Center has a requirement to procure one each CNC Horizontal Large Swing Shaft Lathe to be installed at the U.S. Coast Guard YARD. This lathe shall be used for the machining and remachining of propulsion shafts, controllable pitch propeller blades, etc. used by the U.S. Coast Guard, ranging from 9 feet in length to 23 feet in length, and from 2 inch diameter to 24 inch diameter. Lathe must be able to provide a minimum 66 inch chuck swing over the bed, and a minimum 50 inch swing over the cross slide to facilitate machining of the largest shafts as well as meet other specific physical, functional, and performance characteristics. Interested sources that can provide a lathe capable of handling this range of shaft sizes, etc., must meet the minimum salient physical, functional, and performance characteristics identified in the solicitation package. The Government shall accept a new lathe or a refurbished retrofitted lathe. Used, non-refurbished equipment shall NOT be accepted. The Contractor shall also be responsible for providing all labor and materials to construct a concrete lathe base to contain the proposed lathe as identified in Coast Guard specifications and drawings. In addition to providing a lathe and constructing a concrete base to support the lathe, the contractor shall be responsible for providing a 5-day, on-site, training course to twenty (20) individuals. Training shall take place at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard. Quotations are being accepted from only those sources that attended the Pre-Proposal Conference that was held at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard on April 26, 2005. Delivery shall be F.O.B. Destination to the U.S. Coast Guard Yard, 2401 Hawkins Point Road, Baltimore, MD 21226-5000. Request For Quotation Number HSCG40-05-Q-60002, including all specifications and drawings, shall be available for download from FedBizOpps (www.eps.gov) on or about July 30, 2005.
