Description
The intent of this pre-solicitation notice is to inform the contracting community of the impending schedule for this project. 1. Project pre-show: Late-September/early October 2005. The purpose of the pre-show is to introduce the proposed project to the contracting industry and to obtain feedback before a formal advertisement. This will be an opportunity for potential bidders to view the project and the materials source. 2. Advertise project: October - December 2005. (45 to 60-day advertisement period) 3. Project pre-bid meeting. This meeting will be scheduled approximately 3 weeks after advertisement to provide potential bidders the opportunity to visit the project site, materials source, and ask questions. The draft Geotechnical Report, along with associated maps, for this project will be available on, or about, August 01, 2005. The report and maps may be accessed at www.cflhd.gov/procurement/preshow.cfm This project will consist of grading, drainage, hot mix base course, and Superpave asphalt concrete pavement on 16.86 miles of roadway for HI A-AD 6(3) & SR 200(1), Saddle Road located in Hawaii County, Hawaii. Principal work items on this project include (approximate quantities): 540,000 cy excavation; 103,000 tons subbase aggregates (50,000 tons of Government furnished aggregate base); 180,000 tons hot mix non-Superpave; 55,000 tons hot mix Superpave; 15,800 tons asphalt binder, PG64-16; along with Associated dust control utilizing water and dust palliative, survey and staking; clearing and grubbing; riprap; traffic control, and pipe culverts. The newly constructed segment of Saddle Road, from Milepost 28 to Milepost 35 is on a military installation and unauthorized access is not permitted. Access to the 9 miles on the eastern end of the project (MP 19 to 28) is permitted. There is no known water sources within, or near, the project limits. It is anticipated that the PTA quarry site, located 1.6 miles south of Saddle Road Milepost 38+/-, will be a designated mandatory aggregate source. Currently, unauthorized access to the quarry site is not permitted. Contractors will be responsible for submitting all information required by the Hawaii Department of Health for issuance of all required air quality permits for crushing and hot mix production at the quarry site.
