Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Electromagnetics Division, Boulder CO proposed to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Tekhnoscan Joint Stock Company, Novosibirsk, Russia for a Ti:Sapphire ring laser with external cavity stabilization. NIST’s future experiments on Bose-Einstein Condensates require a single-frequency, narrow linewidth, wavelength-tunable, high power laser source. The laser will be applied for coherent optical manipulation of ultracold atoms (Bose-Einstein condensates). NIST will confine the Bose-Einstein condensates in interference structures made from several intersecting beams originating from the same laser. Such precise manipulation requires single-frequency laser operation and very high emission frequency stability. Required laser powers to achieve sufficient confinement of the Bose-Einstein condensate are in the range of 1W. A CW Ti:Sapphire ring laser is the only laser source that provides these features. The TIS-SF-077 from Tekhnoscan is a Ti:Sapphire ring laser that meets all the above requirements. It provides greater than 1W of stable single-frequency output power over nearly all the required wavelength range from 720 to 850 nm. The delivery time shall be less than 60 days ARO. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (under $100,000). This notice is for information purposes only. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether on not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. Anticipated award date is July 25, 2005. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO WWW.FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (08-JUL-2005); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE. PLEASE CONTACT fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
