Description
This is a modification to the synopsis entitled Cisco Catalyst 3550, NNG05112364Q which was posted on June 13, 2005. You are notified that the following changes are made: 1. QUESTION/COMMENT: Looking at Amendment One, I would like to know what NASA considers to lifetime replacement. Does it mean until Cisco classifies it as end-of-life? Or, until NASA decides to decommission them? Also, a few vendors mentioned this is reaching end-of-life, so warranty would be 5 years past purchase date. (are you familiar with this term, and were you aware of this)? REPLY: Lifetime (reference Amendment 1) would mean until NASA takes them out of service. End of Life (EOL) is not relevant. 2. QUESTION/COMMENT: Regarding Solicitation NNG05112364Q for Cisco 3550 switches and the amendment 02 requesting a lifetime free replacement warranty for those switches. Not sure if you are aware of the fact that there is an "END OF LIFE" for those switches in May, 2006. They are suggesting that customers transition to the 3750 switch family. Not sure if this changes the requirement but under the above condition this should change the warranty for the 3550 switches, not lifetime but to some reasonable period say 4 years. However, if you still require a lifetime replacement, then 3750 switch should be considered. REPLY: The government is aware that Cisco 3550 will reach its end of life in May 2006. 3. NOTE: All equipment is required to be new or refurbished, not used. All equipment shall be properly licensed to run the EMI software. All equipment is required to provide a lifetime warranty. All offerors are required to acknowledge Amendments 1, 2 and 3 with quote. The due date for responses is extended to July 13, 2005. Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
