Description
The Maritime Administration (MARAD) is seeking to employ an historian familiar with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. The purpose of this research is to enable MARAD officals to assess the historical significance of its obsolete National Defense Reserve Fleet Ships (NDRF). Currently there are 147 ships in the NDRF; up to 16 are within the scope of this effort. Furthermore, the Government reserves the right to add a maximum of eight additional ships to this effort at the unit price proposed by the Contractor. Research is to be conducted in consonance with the criteria listed in the National Bulletin memorandum entitled, "Nominating Historic Vessels". A report will be provided on the ship's historic background to facilitate determining their potential eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. POC is John Desch, Contract Specialist, 202-366-4356.
