Description
NIST seeks information on commercially available Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometers that have a custom optical interface. NIST may procure such spectrometers after results of this market research are obtained and analyzed and specifications are developed after a determination is made regarding which FTIR spectrometers can meet NIST's minimum requirements. Such spectrometers are intended to become an integral part of a planned Automated High Throughput Measurement system. The system will consist of an articulated robot and multiple analytical instruments. The initial instrument configuration will consist of (4) Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometers, (2) UV-Vis Spectrometers, and (1) NIST developed Glossmeter. Since the system is expandable, additional instruments can be added at a later date. The articulated robot is the ?controller? that determines which instrument a sample is analyzed by and in what order. Its purpose is identify the sample, retrieve it from a sample rack, insert it into the proper instrument and then retrieve it when the analysis is finished. The limiting step in this measurement system is the collection of FTIR spectra. The addition of four FTIR spectrometers will allow the system to decrease the measurement time for a set of samples. Companies that manufacture or sell commercially available FTIR spectrometers are requested to email detailed specifications for such commercially available system(s) to joseph.widdup@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. Specifications shall include detailed funcational and performance capabilities for the spectrometer itself (including the interferometer, the beamsplitter, the source, the detector, the optics, the case, and the electronics), the custom optical interface, and the software. Also, the following information is requested to be provided as part of the response to this sources sought notice: 1. Name of the company that manufactures the spectrometer(s) for which specifications are provided. 2. Name of company(ies) that are authorized to sell the spectrometer, their addresses, and a point of contact for the company (name, phone number, fax number and email address). 3. Indication of number of days, after receipt of order, that is typical for delivery of such systems. 4. Indication of whether each instrument for which specifications are sent to joseph.widdup@nist.gov are currently on one or more GSA Federal Supply Schedule contracts and, if so, the GSA FSS contract number(s). 5. Any other relevant information that is not listed above which the Government should consider in developing its minimum specifications.
