- Description
- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: CENTERS FOR MEDICARE & MEDICAID SERVICES? ROLE IN PERSONAL HEALTH RECORDS- The purpose of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Request for Information (RFI) is to afford industry the opportunity to provide comment on issues regarding CMS?s role in furthering the use of Personal Health Records (PHRs) for CMS?s beneficiaries. The Government is receptive to any and all industry ideas regarding this initiative, and believes industry feedback, whether supportive or critical, is important to the development and success of any initiatives CMS may undertake in the area. Toward this end, the Government is interested in identifying the appropriate role for CMS, potential technical or contractual problem areas, eliminating any unnecessary constraining requirements, and obtaining recommendations to enhance the initiative?s success. The information provided should not be viewed as a vehicle for presenting a specific approach or product or services to be proposed, but rather as an opportunity to influence a possible solicitation package. For the purposes of this RFI, the term ?Responders? refers to those members of industry providing responses to the Issues and Questions or who otherwise submit information on the PHR initiative. The use of industry information to complete the EDC solicitation documents will be at the discretion of the Government. Responses to this RFI are neither mandatory nor a condition for eligibility to participate in any resulting formal Requests for Proposals or future acquisition. The Government will not provide comments to any Responder?s submission. The Government does not intend to pay for the information solicited and will not recognize or reimburse any costs associated with any RFI submission. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will post a subsequent notice to provide detailed information in response to this Request for Information (RFI) notice.
