Description
US Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, intends to procure armor, chinking and bedding stone to repair Fort Pierce, FL south jetty and within the following requirements: a. Armor Stone, est. 1850 tons - Armor stone shall have a unit weig ht of not less than 135 pounds per cubic foot (saturated surface dry) and shall be free from cracks, seams, and other defects that would tend to increase unduly its deterioration from natural causes. Stone weights shall vary from 9,000 pounds maximum and 7 ,000 pounds minimum. Stone shall be roughly angular in shape of which the least dimension shall not be less than one-third of its greatest dimension. The stone shall be unwashed quarry-run material provided it meets all requirements of these specifications . The inclusion of objectionable quantities of dirt, sand, clay, and rock fines will not be permitted. The jetty stone shall be reasonably well graded with in the following limits: Stone Weight in Pounds 7,000 - 9.000 b. Chinking Stone, est. 185 tons - Chinking stone shall have a unit weight of not less than 135 pounds per cubic foot (saturated surface dry) and shall consist of crushed stone, well graded with in the following limits. The material shall be composed of tough, durable particles, reasonabl y free from thin, flat and elongated pieces; and shall contain no organic matter nor soft, friable particles in quantities considered objectionable by the Contracting Officer. Chinking stone shall be reasonably well graded with in the following limits: U. S. Std. Sieve Opening in inches or Sieve Designation: 12 - 24 inches. c. Bedding Stone, est. 100 tons - Bedding stone shall have a unit weight of not less than 135 pounds per cubic foot (saturated surface dry) and shall consist of crushed stone, well gr aded with in the following limits. The material shall be composed of tough, durable particles, reasonably free from thin, flat and elongated pieces; and shall contain no organic matter nor soft, friable particles in quantities considered objectionable by t he Contracting Officer. Bedding stone shall be reasonably well graded with in the following limits: U.S. Std. Sieve Opening in Inches or Sieve Designation: 3 - 6 inches. Order and quantity of delivery: The contractor shall supply bedding, chinking and ar mor stone in one shipment by barges. Barges shall be moored, 45 days, at a Contractor furnished mooring location in the Port of Fort Pierce. Quantities of each type of material will be delivered FOB Destination to Delivery Site within 15 calendar days af ter contract award by contractor furnished barge/with monthly barge demurrage fee. Delivery shall be coordinated with the COR. This acquisition is Set Aside for Small Business Solicitation W912EP-05-T-000045 will be issued on or about 22 July 2005 with o ffers due on or about 5 August 2004.
