- NASA's Exploration Systems' Lightweight Nonmetallic Thermal Protection Materials Technology (LNTPMT) Project is hosting an Exploration Systems Thermal Protection Materials Summit meeting October 25-27, 2005 at NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) in Mountain View, CA. This Summit meeting was originally announced in Request for Information (RFI) NNM05ZPS008L posted on May 6, 2005. The main purpose of the Summit is to assemble participants from NASA, DoD, and industry, including groups working Thermal Protection System (TPS) issues for Exploration Systems, to facilitate a sharing of ideas and a collaboration of efforts on the best ways to meet the immediate and long term TPS needs of the Exploration Systems Program. Additional specific objectives are as follows: To disseminate information concerning the activities, accomplishments, and plans of the LNTPMT project. To discuss TPS technology activities relevant to the Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) design teams efforts, the Concept Exploration and Refinement (CE&R) study teams results, and the various on-going Exploration Systems TPS technology projects. To solicit specific input and feedback to focus the LNTPMT Project methodology, plans, and Phase II efforts. This Summit is for US citizens ONLY and International Traffic in Arms Regulations(ITAR)apply. Attendance at this Summit is restricted in accordance with DoD Directive 5230.5 under the provisions of Public Law 98-94, ?Department of Defense Authorization Act, 1984,? Section 1217, Sept 24, 1983 and is not open to the general public. Participation is by invitation only, and attendance by organization may be limited.
