- The Smithsonian Institution is seeking proposals for the design, manufacture and installation of pullout style, floor-supported, painting storage systems (art racks) at the National Museum of the American Indian?s Cultural Resource Center (CRC) in Suitland, Maryland. Two small side to side moving storage systems for two dimensional art were installed on the Entry and Lower Levels of the CRC in 1998. These racks are inadequate in size to hold projected collections growth and the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) requires new, larger, pullout style art racks. The existing side-to-side art racks will be removed by NMAI prior to beginning installation of the new racks. All firms interested in submitting a proposal in response to Solicitation No. F0536SOL0029 need copies of the solicitation documents. The Solicitation documents will be available upon written request, on or about August 17, 2005, from the Smithsonian Institution, Office of Contracting, P.O. Box 37012, 750 9th Street, NW, Suite 6200, Washington, DC 20013-7012, Attn: Janet Benson Forville. Requests for solicitation documents should be written on company letterhead and have complete address, telephone and facsimile numbers, and name of company representative (written requests for solicitation documents may be delivered to the above address or by facsimile transmission to 202-275-0624). A pre-proposal meeting is tentatively scheduled for September 14, 2005. The time and location of the pre-proposal meeting and due date for submission of proposals will be included in the solicitation documents. All firms responding to this solicitation will be required to submit a business and technical proposal for evaluation. Proposals will be evaluated using weighted factors, as further described in the Solicitation. The proposed procurement is a Small Business set aside. NAICS code: 337215.
